World Environment Day: Generation Restoration: Reimagine, Recreate, Restore

World Environment Day is celebrated on 5 June and this year focuses on ecosystem restoration with the theme “Reimagine, recreate, restore“.

The loss of ecosystems is depriving the world of carbon sinks, such as forests and peatlands, at a time when humanity can no longer afford it. Global greenhouse gas emissions have risen for three consecutive years and the planet is one step away from potentially catastrophic climate change.

Did you know?

  • Over 4.7 million hectares of forests – an area larger than Denmark – are lost every year.
  • Nearly 80 per cent of the world’s wastewater is discharged to our oceans and rivers without treatment.
  • Wetlands are being drained for agriculture, with some 87 per cent lost globally in the last 300 years.

At Grupo Azvi we want to reaffirm our commitment to the Environment and we are working to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, in particular:

SDG 13: Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts

SDG 15: Sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, halt and reverse land degradation, halt biodiversity loss
