Grupo Azvi fights climate change by reducing its carbon footprint

Grupo Azvi’s commitment to reducing the carbon footprint of Azvi, Cointer, Traccion Rail and Manfevias has been effective in  maintaining the downward trend in average emissions of the last three years. The reduction values for the different companies range from 10.32% to 34.02%, avoiding a total of 2,886 tonnes of CO2e emissions in 2021.

This milestone enabled us to obtain the #Reduzco seal from the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge .

As in previous years, Grupo Azvi has calculated the carbon footprints of the head companies of its different business lines (Azvi, Ispalvia, Cointer, Azsuma, Traccion Rail and Manfevias), in line with the requirements established in the new UNE-EN-ISO 14064-1:2019 Standard: “Greenhouse gases. Part 1”. These have been verified by Aenor and recorded in the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge’s 2021 carbon footprint, compensation and CO2 absorption projects register.

To achieve the objectives set out in our Environmental Policy for the fight against climate change, we continue to carry out the actions defined in the second Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Plan (2018-2022).

To coincide with the International Day against Climate Change on 24th October and convinced that this task requires everyone’s participation, some of the actions defined in our GHG Emissions Reduction Plan (2018-2022) are:

  • Improving the energy efficiency of our offices and warehouses (photovoltaic installations, LED lights, etc.).
  • Replacement of diesel and petrol vehicles with electric, hybrid and LPG vehicles.
  • Improvement of driving habits, towards more efficient driving.
  • Promoting the reuse of surplus materials on-site through the installation of concrete, asphalt, crushing, etc. plants.
  • Reuse of waste.
  • Involvement of our suppliers in the fight against climate change.
